Specters of postcolonialism in HBO’s Folklore

This paper aims to present the Asian take on folk horror subgenre. The author focuses HBO-produced anthology Folklore (2018–), which states starting point for further analyses. Wajda starts by pointing difficulties in defining ‚folk horror’ and its meaning development of global cinemas. describes compares different approaches this term takes a closer look at relations between horror, literary beginnings, stories filled with grim gruesome events. Concerning above, observes that was primarily associated British cinema late 1960s 1970s, later developing into other countries. Furthermore, new themes ground presented Folklore. points out current cycle is phenomenon successfully adopted filmmakers.
